Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District-CALIFORNIA
DE MINIMIS EXEMPTIONS (Must Meet 1298):
An engine firing natural gas or liquid petroleum gas and emitting less than 1 ton per year is exempt from permitting.
MINOR SOURCE PERMITTING:
Any unit with actual emissions greater than 1 ton per year of a criteria pollutant must be permitted. All sources
must meet a 20% opacity requirement, but other limits will be determined on a case by case basis. Any controls
will be required dependent on a health risk assessment. The district is currently considering some permitting guidance
released by the state, but no decisions have been made.
Permitting officials aim for permit completion within a month, but may take up to a year.
TREATMENT OF EMERGENCY ENGINES:
There is no special treatment in place.
